5 Things We Are Looking Forward to at IBC 2016
The IBC 2016 Conference is less than a month away and the team members here at Mirror Image are anxious to make their way to Amsterdam in September. IBC is one of the premiere conferences of the year, collecting global companies and industry leaders to discuss and demo electronic media and entertainment. Our team reviewed the conference program and identified a brief list of the panels we are most excited to attend.
A few of us in the office are watching the Summer Olympics in Ultra High Definition and we all agree - "it's crisp." More and more shows are being broadcast or streamed in UHD - notably: Europe's UHD sports channel, Pope Francis' HDR transmission of a major ceremony, and Netflix's binge-worthy titles like Daredevil, Breaking Bad, Jessica Jones, and House of Cards. With video on-demand and live streaming at the core of our business, we look forward to hearing directly from the pioneers of this new technology and gaining insight into the implications it may have on the future of TV.

Most of us here at Mirror Image have seen the evolution of video streaming firsthand. We were there when Blockbuster usurped our local video rental stores, and we were there when Netflix dethroned Blockbuster. With Netflix sitting comfortably as "king of the hill" in the streaming video market, we plan to join this interview session with Christopher Whitely, VP Business Development EMEA.
In an interview, Phil Mordecai from Curzon stated that they believe “that consumers want to watch what they want, when they want, and how they want,” and we couldn't agree more. As many companies struggle to integrate new technologies and features into their business model, Curzon, an 80-year-old cinema chain is a shining example of staying ahead of the game by offering a video on demand service. Mordecai, Director at Curzon Home Cinema, will be at IBC discussing Curzon's journey into providing an over-the-top service.
Enhancing the Multi-Screen Experience Through Synchronization & Personalization
September 8, 3:30-5:00
For those of us who are TV show addicts, we know the pain and discomfort of avoiding our social media platforms to prevent witnessing plot spoilers to our favorite shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. This paper session tackles this issue, and will show how media providers can increase user engagement by building synchronized and personalized experiences across devices.
Five new ad products are being pitched to a panel of agencies and advertisers, and we're hoping it's conducted by a professional auctioneer. With Facebook recently announcing that they will be forcing advertising on ad-block users this week, we anticipate that ad technology will be an especially hot topic at IBC 2016. Admittedly, we are interested in attending this forum as Mirror Image is developing technology to help content publishers and media providers increase revenue from their ad networks. You can learn more about this product at adblockoverride.com.
